Katniss and Gale are suppose to have more mixed colour skin.
That’s not how she gets the Mockingjay pin.
Why isn’t her skin colour more mixed?
Why isn’t she wearing her Mockingjay pin more?
She’s suppose to be playing to the crowd. Why isn’t she?
And they were suppose to be holding hands before they got let out.
This film is pissing me off.
Rue looks almost exactly as I pictured her. I like this.
Cinna almost looks exactly as I pictured him. Then again, I didn’t give him an ethnicity because I don’t recall reading one about him. I just imagined darker skin colour since they mentioned the gold eyebrow thing and the only skin colour that I feel gold really makes that kind of impression on is darker. Like Mediterranean/Middle Eastern/African/Native American or MAYBE Mexican/South American(which coincidentally almost any of those except African I could picture Katniss/Gale/Peeta/everyone else from District 12 being going off of descriptions of their skin colour from the book. WHY ARE THEY SO BLESSED WHITE?)
What’s his name is suppose to fall into the punch bowl when she shoots the apple from the pig’s mouth.
And they’re suppose to be putting on the show of them being together and united during training(Katniss/Peeta) not be all separate and shite. Why aren’t they?
Dear gods Wes Bentley is hot…and that beard…….on him…..*melts*
And the sad part about all this is I’m only 49 minutes into this film. I don’t expect any actual answers about any of these but these are my honest to god thoughts about the films. Maybe the books are just too fresh into my mind to fully enjoy…
That’s not how her dress is suppose to look
Why is she still so damn white?
Katniss Everdeen was born on May 8th in District 12. She has straight, black hair, usually in a braid down her back, olive skin, and gray eyes.
It was suppose to be the whole dress and you got the fire illusion without her spinning. Though I do have to say just the bottom of the dress looked pretty awesome too. Though doing it that way it would have looked amazing if the top half of the dress was black and it would have accentuated that look a lot more.
Cinna dresses her in a dress covered in jewels that make her look like she is being engulfed by flames when she moves.
Also she was suppose to mention her favourite dish.
And the stupid lady’s hair is suppose to be pink not purple.
And then they were suppose to show her shocked face.
They were all suppose to be at a table to be able to do that.
He’s suppose to show her the garden on the rooftop.
They’re injecting the tracker chips wrong.
Katniss doesn’t quite hesitate that much in the book. She runs in, grabs the back pack and runs away.
The cornucopia doesn’t look like a cornucopia. That looks like a child’s rendition of what one looks like and nowhere near what it is described as looking like in the book.
Contents of the backpack are wrong. The bottle of water is suppose to be bigger. She never gets rope.
Though, she had to fight over one with a Male from District 9 who eventually got killed fighting for the pack by Clove from district 2. Then Clove threw a knife at Katniss but she was able to block it with the backpack and gained a knife. The backpack was essential to her survival. It contained one thin black sleeping bag that reflects body heat, a pack of crackers, a pack of dried beef strips, a bottle of iodine, a box of wooden matches, a bit of coiled wire, a pair of night vision glasses (mistaken for sunglasses at first by Katniss, but was later enlightened by Rue), and an empty half gallon plastic water bottle. One immensely bad thing about this pack was that it was bright orange which could easily be seen and proved very difficult to cover up. Katniss realized this and used mud to camoflauge it. Katniss fought for the backpack at the Cornucopia along with some bread (which she ended up dropping) and a three-foot plastic square.
Also, why did this never happen?
At another point in the reaping, Haymitch Abernathy comes in drunk, and this, combined with his poor manners and presentation, annoys Effie to no end. He stumbles upon the stage and hugs her without her consent, causing her wig to become crooked, after which he promptly falls face first off the stage and lies on the floor, unconscious. Effie attempts to shake this off, although her wig remains askew, and continues the reaping ceremony.
Also because I know I’ll focus too much on the clothing thing, this is all the dresses she wears that he designs for her.
Cinna’s outfits are mainly focused on Katniss and what suits her best. In all of his outfits, Cinna wanted her to look outstanding. His designs were made to play up Katniss’ image as “the girl on fire”. Katniss’s first outfit was a plain black shirt with matching pants. A black cape that was lit with tampered real flames topped her outfit off. Her second dress was black with priceless jewels creating fire designs. When she twirled, she looked like she was engulfed in pure flames. “I am not pretty. I am not beautiful. I am as radiant as the sun.” Katniss’s third dress (nicknamed her “innocent dress”), falls to her knees and is a soft candle light yellow. Cinna tries to make Katniss look as innocent as possible; however, she is still seen as the girl on fire in this dress as it has a ripply, soft glow. His fourth dress is a fitted black jumpsuit, with a crown and it “comes to life as fire” turning different colors. She wears it in the 75th Hunger Games parade. Katniss’s fifth dress is a long white gown, completed with pearls. Cinna secretly altered the dress so that when she twirled, she would become a mockingjay. This symbolized that the rebellion was still alive and confident. But, sadly, this brave and rebellious act would cause his death later in the second book. The sixth and final dress Cinna created is a mockingjay uniform for her to wear on television and in battle.
SHE NEVER FINDS WATER THAT FIRST DAY! SHE WINDS UP SEVERELY DEHYDRATED BEFORE FINDING IT!
Over the next few days, Katniss moves further and further away from the Cornucopia, though she is substantially slowed down by a lack of water. She nearly dies of thirst before she finds a small pond to drink from, stumbling into it while she thinks of camouflaging her bright orange backpack, so it wouldn’t draw too much attention. The next morning she is awoken by a wall of Gamemaker-made fire, including fireballs that are flung at her. She survives this but suffers minor burns on her hands and a severe burn on her calf. She goes to sleep and is woken by the sound of footsteps. Katniss is briefly chased by the Career pack, consisting of Glimmer, Marvel, Cato, Clove, the girl from District 4 and Peeta, and escapes up a tree. Cato tries to climb up after Katniss, but crashes to the ground because he is too heavy for the branches. All of the Careers are too heavy to climb after her and settle to wait for her to come down. Rue then appears high up in the tree and points to the tracker jacker nest above Katniss. Katniss cuts it down with the knife she received from Clove (she had fired a knife at her in the beginning which lodged itself in her backpack) and the tracker jackers attack the Careers, killing Glimmer and the girl from District 4. The other Careers all get tracker jacker stings, as does Katniss, and take several days to recover. When Katniss wakes up from the hallucinations caused by the tracker jacker venom, she proposes an alliance with Rue.
The tracker jackers are subdued when she originally finds them. Not as active as they are in the film.
Also, she starts a little earlier in the morning than they are showing and starts during the music or whatever that they play at the start of the day so that the kids below her don’t hear.
And her palms are suppose to be burned too not just her leg.
She gets stung three times. Not two. Whilst up in the tree. At least that’s how I remember it.
Also, the leaves thing doesn’t happen until AFTER Katniss wakes up.
They also missed the whole thing of Rue being excited over getting a whole rabbit leg.
Rue and Katniss don’t talk about Peeta damn it. And Rue doesn’t give any indication of knowing where he is. Katniss just happens to stumble upon him.
And they don’t talk about the two of them forming an alliance like the careers.
After this, Rue continues to follow Katniss. While Katniss is attempting to make a fire, she hears a branch crack and she knows it’s Rue because she sees her boots sticking around the tree. She tells Rue the careers aren’t the only ones who can make an alliance. Rue comes out from behind the tree and says she can heal Katniss’ tracker jacker wounds with leaves. Katniss is relieved by her wounds being fixed and offers Rue treatment for her burns. Rue says longingly Katniss has good sponsors, for that is where she got the burn balm, and Katniss asks her if she had gotten anything yet, to which Rue replies no. Katniss tells Rue not to worry because the more she advances in the Games the more sponsors will recognize her for her survival skills. Katniss offers her a groosling leg which surprises Rue, who has never had a whole leg to herself. Katniss and Rue talk about their life in their district. After the conversation, Rue explains to Katniss about the career’s camp and the strategy they have for protecting food and supplies. This gives Katniss the idea of evening the playing field between them and the careers by destroying their supplies.
They miss the whole of WHY Katniss cares so much about Rue. Because Rue reminds her so much of her sister.
And Rue telling her where she spied on the careers at and who they left guard and all that.
And if she was that out in the open when she fired those arrows they would have seen her.
She doesn’t manage to free Rue from the net she’s caught in. And the net is suspended in the air.
Katniss goes to the woods, listening for Rue. Her four note melody rings out through the woods from mockingjays, but she suddenly cries out for Katniss. Knowing it’s probably trouble and possibly a trap, she runs through the trees to find Rue entangled in a mesh net, one arm sticking out before a spear is thrown into her abdomen by the boy from District 1, whose name is later revealed to be Marvel. Katniss kills the boy (with an arrow to the neck) and sits down with Rue, Katniss promises she’ll win for the both of them and sings the Valley Song. She dies after Katniss finishes the song. Seeing Rue dead and angry that the Capitol enjoys watching innocent children die, Katniss decides to pick flowers and decorates Rue’s corpse with them, hiding the wound and weaving them into her hair. When she finishes, Katniss realises how much it looks like Rue is in fact sleeping and does the signature District 12 farewell gesture to Rue. Later, this is seen as an act that defied the Capitol. She then takes her and the dead boy’s backpacks, knowing that Rue would want her to have them.
And the spear stays in Rue’s stomach.
And Marvel dies AFTER Katniss sees his spear in Rue’s stomach.
Also as pointed out in the above paragraph she weaves the flower through her hair. Not puts them in her hand.
And seriously, I really feel like the audience who hasn’t read the books will miss out on WHY Katniss is so devastated over Rue dying. Since the whole point of The Hunger Games is to kill as many of the competitors as possible.
I love the diversity in people in District 11.
And she’s suppose to grab Rue and Marvel’s backpacks and take stuff from each to put into her own. They help her survive.
Their riots are too soon though. The riots happen AFTER the games.
She calls out Peeta’s name at the announcement. Not whispers it.
Dear gods Peeta you make a convincing rock.
She takes off his pants and washes them and sees exactly how bad the wound in his leg is.
Also she puts him in the sleeping bag and he stays there the whole time in the cave.
She drugs him to keep him asleep all day.
And she’s suppose to be in the sleeping bag everytime she sleeps as well.
12’s bag is suppose to be the smallest at the cornucopia.
The fight with Cato happens at the TOP of the cornucopia. Not just on top of it. But at the very top.
Katniss kills Cato after the muttitations have dragged him inside the cornucopia.
Peeta has a tourniquet on his leg from where the muttitations grabbed him made with Katniss’s last arrow that she uses to kill Cato.
Peeta and Katniss stand back to back to eat the berries.
And they get the berries into their mouths BEFORE the announcement is made and then wash their mouths out in the water before being airlifted out.
And they hang the game master but you don’t find out until the second book.
And Peeta and Katniss are curled up on a couch together in each other arms.
And the crown splits in two so they each get a half of it.
Also Snow is still an asshole. Nice that they kept that continuity.
